Jets Blog: The Latest On Revis

By Peter Schwartz
» More Columns

Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis did not participate in practice on Wednesday but did take part in individual drills. Linebacker Calvin Pace also did not practice and the status of both players for Sunday's game in Denver will be determined later in the week.

And that determination will be made by Jets head coach Rex Ryan who announced on Wednesday that he will now have the final say as to whether or not an injured player takes part in a game.

Ryan had a conversation with Revis on Wednesday morning where it was made clear that the decision will be based on the best interests of both the team and the player.

Also on Wednesday, wide receiver Santonio Holmes reiterated his denial of a Sports Illustrated article that claims he took money from an agent while he was at Ohio State.

Holmes does not think that the story will become a distraction.

The Jets will change their travel schedule a bit this week, as they get ready to head out to Denver for Sunday's contest. The Jets will leave on Friday so that they can get adjusted to the altitude in Denver. Ryan said the team would stay on east coast time while they are in Colorado.

NICK IS A FOLK HERO!

Jets kicker Nick Folk was named the AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week after nailing five field goals in Monday night's 29-20 win over the Vikings. His 53-yard boot in the second quarter tied a career long. Folk leads the NFL through five weeks with 49 points and is tied for first in the league with 12 field goals.

A NEW JETS JERSEY ON THE HORIZON?

Hang on to your current Jets jersey or make sure that you invest in a new one or two over the next two years because it's possible that there might be a change looming.

The NFL has reached agreement with Nike to become the official uniform and on-field apparel provider beginning in 2012. Nike will produce all game uniforms and base layer, as well as sideline personnel apparel and fan gear.
"We have spent considerable time the past few years rigorously evaluating our apparel business," according to Eric Grubman, the NFL's executive vice president of NFL ventures and business operations. "The new framework will provide fans with a wider breadth of merchandise from global category leaders in the sports licensed apparel industry."
Reebok remains the NFL's outfitter for the remainder of the 2010 season and the 2011 season.

Also in 2012, New Era will be the official on-field headwear supplier and will produce headwear for the sidelines and for fans.
