Report: Valentine Turns Down Marlins; Available For Mets?

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Bobby Valentine has turned down an offer to manage the Florida Marlins, reports WFAN's Jon Heyman.

Heyman cited an unidentified league source. MLB.com first reported the news.

Other candidates for the Florida position include Edwin Rodriguez, Jim Fregosi, Tim Wallach, Tony Pena, and Bo Porter.

Valentine, who led the Mets to the 2000 World Series, is widely thought to be a potential replacement for the ousted Jerry Manuel.

Valentine is also being considered for open managerial positions in Seattle and Toronto.
