Boots: One Of The Trends To Define Fashion Season

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- One of the trends that will define fashion this season is the boot. There is a style for just about any look and every price.

The high styles that strutted down the fashion runways were the inspiration for many of the boots now on shoe store shelves and from there, you can find them on the streets all over town as one of the most important fashion statements of this season.

"I like them better than shoes. When I can wear boots I wear boots instead of shoes," Kelly McCabe told CBS 2's Dana Tyler.

"I would say that boots are the new shoes this season," Jenn Michael, stylist at the Queens Center said.

The classics are still important. Riding boots remain a constant -- giving jeans and a white shirt a fresh, updated look.

"If you're going to invest in a pair of boots ever in your life have it be a classic pair of riding boots. They never go out of style," Michael said.

But for boots making fashion headlines, stylish peep toes are turning from a summer trend into a year round must have.

Sky high heels with great attention to detail and day to night wearability make them a new staple for a footwear fashionista.

"One of the newer trends we're seeing this year that I'm a big fan of is worker inspired boots," Michael said.

Over the knee boots have also become a classic. They are expected to be seen worn in flats and stilettos or even scrunched down with patterned tights.

In fact, just about any outfit can take on a new look when you change up the boot. Even trendy military chic becomes office ready with a higher heeled mid calf boot.

"Where we used to have several different shoes and one boot that we pulled out for the fall, this year we took every variation of a shoe and added a heel on it and now its fashion," Michael said.
