Maureen Lambert pleaded guilty Monday in Suffolk County Court to charges including manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while impaired by drugs.

Courtney Sipes was killed while crossing a street in Smithtown on Nov. 24, 2009. Prosecutors say Lambert was driving 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Toxicology reports showed Lambert had a heroin byproduct in her system when she surrendered to authorities the following day.

A witness testified before a grand jury that he was with the defendant when she used heroin shortly before the crash.

The 21-year-old Lambert faces four to 12 years in prison. Sentencing was set for Dec. 8.

Ignore the Heroin intoxication part: she wasn’t suppoed to be driving, period. Driving with a suspended license…. ya think maybe she had no business driving Daddy’s Avalanche?? Thank you, Mr. Lambert, for supplying the murder weapon!! NOW add the horse to the mixture,… and driving 60 in a 30, is the icing on the suspended license cake. This party mattress had no business driving, period. But she did it. Celebrated her 21st birthday in the slammer. And she may only get 4 years? No wonder she was smirking. Poor Courtney Sipes: may you rest in peace precious one, and may we see you in Heaven some day.

  2. Josh says:

She should only get 4-12 if she brings down the heroin ring that supplied her. Otherwise, 10-20 would be more fitting.

  3. R says:

So give her only 4 to 12 years. No problem. Courtney Sipes friends or relatives would be glad to meet this junkie as she leaves prison and then they’ll have a little conversation about what happened.

  4. Nick says:

So when will the government start selling Spiked drugs? The sooner these addicts OD on the spiked drugs, the better off society would be. No more murderous “accidents”. No more dope dealers – no customers. No more gangs – no dope dealers. And you get to remove the stupid genes from the human genome.

This low life junkie, takes the life of a beautiful young girl, and only faces 4 to 12 years in prison. This is a travesty of justice………………….

  6. sk says:

it so sad that this young girl’s life was taken away b/c of an irresponsible driver. It does not matter how many years Lampert goes to prison. She still can’t bring back this girl’s life. I hope this is alesson for those who take drugs/alcohol, especially while driving.
