Poll: NY Rep. Murphy Trails GOP Rival In 20th CD
NEW YORK (AP) -- A new poll shows Democratic Rep. Scott Murphy trailing Republican rival Chris Gibson by nine points in the Albany-area 20th Congressional district.
A Siena Research Institute survey of likely voters released Tuesday finds Gibson leading Murphy by a 51-42 percent margin. It's a big shift from a Siena poll last month, which found Murphy leading by 17 percentage points.
At issue are independent voters. The poll found Murphy trailing among independent voters by a 49-42 percent margin, after leading among independents by a 58-30 percent margin last month.
The poll of 676 likely voters in the district was taken from October 23-25 and had a sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
