TV, Real Life "Survivor" Running NYC Marathon

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - He was the mop-top, million dollar winner of "Survivor: Africa," but 36-year-old Ethan Zohn made the cover of People magazine for a very different challenge: cancer.

Now, he is running in the 2010 New York City Marathon.

"I had to go through this thing called a stem cell transplant and I was locked in isolation in the hospital for 30 days," Zohn told WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond. "Part of my daily routine was to close my eyes and visualize myself running the streets of New York City and crossing that finish line. I mean, this is a dream of mine."

Zohn will go head-to-head in a charity challenge with his pal and "Bachelorette" star Ryan Sutter.

Zohn says, "We're going to start together and whoever finished first, we have a little gentlemen's bet going on. I have to donate something to First Descents or he'll have to donate something to Grassroots Soccer."

He'll have to run fast. Sutter finished last year's marathon in an impressive 3 hours and 27 minutes.
