5 Accused Of Attacking L.I. Man With Flag Pole

WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) -- Police have arrested five men for allegedly beating a Long Island gas station worker with American flags.

The incident occurred in Wantagh at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the OK Gas Station.

Nassau County police say the employee was kicked and punched about the face and head and struck over the head with two flag poles.

Police charged all five men with assault; three also were charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and obstructing governmental administration.

Police say the alleged attack occurred after an earlier confrontation with another station employee. They say the suspects left but returned a short time later.
