Funeral Held For Off-Duty NYC Cop Killed In Crash

NEW YORK (AP) -- An off-duty New York City police officer killed in a crash with a wrong-way driver was remembered at his funeral as a man of religious faith who was devoted to his family.

Mourners gathered Saturday in Queens for the funeral of Andre Menzies.

The 35-year-old was killed on Nov. 15 while driving on the Northern State Parkway in Long Island shortly after midnight. Authorities said a drunken driver going the wrong way hit Menzies. That driver was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Menzies' family and friends described him as a role model. His wife described him as "beautiful inside and out.''

Menzies had worked for the New York Police Department for nine years.
