NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP) — Authorities said a New York City police officer was arrested for DWI during the early hours of Thanksgiving morning.

Police Officer Anthony Rodriguez, 27, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated around 3 a.m. Thursday in the Bronx.

The New York Post reported Rodriguez was off-duty and found by officers who noticed his car facing the wrong direction on a Bronx street.

Police said the officer was asleep at the wheel, and refused a breath test but had slurred speech and his eyes were bloodshot.

Rodriguez pleaded guilty earlier this month to resisting arrest at a June Mets game at Citi Field, the Post reported.

Police said Rodriguez was suspended pending an investigation.

Did you ever notice that off duty cops who get stopped or arrested for dwi always refuse the test?

But according to Bloomberg, this officer is allowed to carry his service weapon drunk, just not pedestrians, who face felony charges. Police are exempt from carrying firearms drunk.

It’s a joke.
