Famed Bob Dylan Lyrics To Be Auctioned Next Week
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The original lyrics to Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'" will soon be a-changin' hands. The plain piece of notebook paper on which Dylan wrote down what became a classic is up for auction.
The lyrics on simple and, now yellowed, notebook paper were kept by a friend of Dylan's who introduced the future icon to the Village folk scene.
"Once he had the song in his mind, he didn't care so much about the manuscript and he tended in his early years to leave them with the people he was staying with," said Sotheby's Selby Kiffer.
WCBS 880 Reporter Paul Murnane learned the sheet of paper was handed down to another set of Dylan acquaintances and then ultimately to the private collector who is selling it on Dec. 10.

"It's so perfectly summed up what was happening in 1963, in a way what's still is happening, since a lot of it is about intergenerational conflict, that remains a constant," said Kiffer.
Sotheby's expects the lyrics to sell for $200,000-$300,000.
