NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Long Island has a voting dilemma ahead of Tuesday’s fire district elections.
They’re trying to bring back the old lever machines because a court order has the new optical scan machines impounded as votes are still being recounted from last month’s general elections.
State election law doesn’t allow for the old machines to be used. They’re only permitted for school district races, but fire districts say they’re left with no other choice.
According to Newsday, over a hundred districts have ordered the old machines from the county election boards.
