Mets Add To Coaching Staff

WFAN & SI's Jon Heyman is reporting, the New York Mets have filled some empty positions on the coaching staff. The Mets have hired Ken Oberkfell as the new bench coach. Oberkfell was interviewed by Sandy Alderson for the managerial position that eventually went to Terry Collins. He has spent the last six seasons managing the Mets' Triple-A affiliate.

Dave Hudgens who was drafted in the first round of the 1975 draft by the Mets but did not sign with them is now the teams' hitting coach.

Jon Debus will become bullpen coach, he was the bullpen coach for the Dodgers in 2005 and has worked with Terry Collins in Orix, Japan.

Former Met, Mookie Wilson will be promoted from coordinator of baserunning to 1B coach.
