Kelly: NYPD Taking More Precautions This Holiday Season

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/CBS 2) – After a mysterious package at the Newark International Airport and a strange van parked across from the Israeli mission both turned out to be nothing, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is not taking chances this holiday season.

These are the kinds of incidents that make the NYPD keep its guard up, Kelly said. New Yorkers and the police must be alert and vigilant.

Kelly has last year’s Christmas incident to remind him what could happen.

“We had the incident of Flight 253 going into Detroit. Omar Abdulmutallab was arrested for the underwear bomb that he had in his possession,” Kelly said.

With Christmas just days away, Kelly said we have to be mindful of anything suspicious.

“You know you always hear this chatter as it’s called about the holidays and around holiday time. In the U.K. today, they just arrested 12 Bangladeshis,” Kelly said. “We follow these cases closely. We have no specific threats against New York City.”

The NYPD will be adding extra security this week just to be on the safe side.

Don’t worry Ray “Captain America” Kelly is single handedly winning the war on terrorism, just ask him.
Thousands of people a day risk there lives to keep this country safe. They don’t ask for awards or glory but this guy will take credit for anything, anywhere or from anybody.

I’ll bet Ray Kelly is stationing extrat police in and around the Harvard Club durring this “high” terrorist alert. Ray doesn’t want anything to happen to the restaruant he has been eating and drinking at for years for free.
Hey Ray when you get your meals for free do you at least leave a couple of bucks on the table for the wait staff or do you rip them off also???

Commissioner Kelly, with Bloomberg chasing away all the hot dog vendors out of NYC isnt that eroding the NYPD first line of defense in the war on terrorism? You know like last year when the terrorist drove a “carbomb” right in the middle of Times Square left the vehicle running in the middle of the street and not one cop thought it was suspicious. The only person who reacted was the hero hot dog vendor who got the whole “anti-terror” plan in motion.
