DA: 3 Dead, 4 Wounded In Newark Shootings

NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS/ AP) -- Two separate shootings in Newark on Thursday afternoon left three people dead and four others wounded, the Essex County Prosecutor's office told 1010 WINS.

Spokeswoman Katherine Carter said authorities have not determined motives for either shooting and no arrests have been made.

The first shooting happened in the city's West Ward around 4:30 p.m., near South 12th Street and Avon Avenue. The Prosecutor's Office said two 16-year-olds were killed and three others were injured.

In a second shooting in the vicinity of Court Street, Rodney Shacor Kearney, 30, of Newark was killed and another person was injured.

It was not immediately known if the shootings were connected.
