NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - In the cold and wind, senior pastor Gerardo Balmori and lay minster Giovanni Coello, both from the Salvation Army in the Bronx, made it through the night at Rockefeller Center singing Feliz Navidad again and again and again while ringing their bells.

WCBS 880′s Ginny Kosola reports

“We share a little bit of the joy that we have to others,” Balmori, who runs the Salvation Army in the Bronx, told WCBS 880 reporter Ginny Kosola. “…and people automatically, they come and they drop a coin. They help us to ring the bells. They kiss us. They hug us. They bring us coffee. So, I think it’s a better experience. Joy acts is different”

Balmori says it’s the first time they’ve tried the all-night bell ringing and it’s been a big success.

They started at 6 p.m. Thursday and won’t stop until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Good for them. They love what they do and you can see the enthusiasm in the photograph. God Bless, it is going to be cold out there!
