Heineken Offers Free Taxis For White Plains Partiers

WHITE PLAINS (WCBS 880) — If you’re celebrating the New Year in White Plains and you feel you can’t drive, the good people of Heineken are willing to drive you home.

For White Plains residents who know they’ll be drinking, Heineken will provide a rid when the party is over, reports WCBS 880’s Catherine Cioffi.

Heineken USA’s Tara Carraro says they are once again hosting the Safe Ride program, offering free taxi rides anywhere in Westchester County.

“We do really take the idea of drinking and driving very seriously, and we don’t think anyone should do it,” Carraro said. “This is just our way of being able to give back to the community.”

Cars will be available from December 31 at 11 p.m. until January 1 at 3 a.m. at the intersection of Mamaroneck Avenue and East Post Road in White Plains. Call 1-800-TAXICAB for more information.

The people at Heinekin aren’t stupid… don’t you drink more beer when you don’t have to drive? Have another Heiny!

…just wish the taxis won’t be driven by drunk drivers.

Why is it people always go for for the most over the top solutions to social issues? Eliminating alcohol is not the solution. Being accountable for your actions might be a better way to start. I understand we have created a world where no one wants to be responsible for their actions, look where that got us so far! Let’s hope the Shelli’s of the world don’t end up running it.

You need an editor CBS. Thanks for the rides or should I say “rids” Heineken.

  6. Shelli Lipton says:

That’s a thoughtful way to save lives. Eliminating the alcohol in the first place would be even more advantageous to one’s health. At least their is some conscious decision making going on these days.
