Conn. National Guard To Run Inaugural Rehearsals

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Connecticut National Guard is planning several rehearsals before the inauguration of Gov.-elect Dan Malloy.

Col. John Whitford said that on Monday and Tuesday the guard will conduct numerous run-throughs of the various events, including the inaugural parade and the swearing-in ceremonies at the William A. O’Neill Armory in Hartford.

Malloy was scheduled to take the oath of office on Wednesday at approximately 2 p.m. inside the armory. The public was invited to attend and there were to be be seats for 2,800 people.

Contractors were expected to spend the weekend setting up the staging for the inaugural ceremony.

Malloy, a Democrat, will become the state’s 88th governor. He is replacing retiring Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
