Mother, Son Injured By 2 Pit Bulls In Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities said two people suffered minor injuries while being attacked by two pit bulls in a Rochester neighborhood.

Police told the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester that a mother and her son were bitten by two pit bulls early Sunday afternoon.

Officers said the victims were treated for minor injuries. The dogs couldn't be located at the scene.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, an officer shot a pit bull that turned on him after he responded to a report of a dog chasing a man. Police said the dog survived and was returned to its owner based on a decision by an animal control officer.

Both incidents occurred in a section of the city where an 11-year-old boy and a U.S. postal carrier were bitten by pit bulls a week apart last month.
