CLARKSTOWN, NY (WCBS 880) - A Rockland County town wants its cut!

WCBS 880′s Catherine Cioffi reports

The Nanuet Mall, the Palisades Center mall, and tons of car dealerships are all in Clarkstown.

Because of all of the sales tax that’s generated there, Clarkstown supervisor Alex Gromack is now calling on the county to give Clarkstown a greater share of the sales tax.

“We provide all the police protection for the businesses and the mall – fire and ambulance,” Gromack told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.

Gromack says that, in a perfect world, Clarkstown would get 10 percent more than they presently get.

“We are the town that makes the major contribution of sales tax because of all the businesses that we’ve been able to nurture and stimulate,” says Gromack.

Gromack says Clarkstown deserves it.

If the Nanuet malls owner Simon Property had done something before palisades mall opened it would be still up and running. Macys also was the colprit they took away abraham and straus and sterns wjch were both an anchor at the mall. Both caused the demise of Nanuet Mall not the Palisades Center. The RESIDENTS of Clarkstown have it stuck in their heads it was the blame of palisades mall because they hate the mall. What they saw in Nanuet its beyond me its not that beautiful, Macys is so run down The paramus malls are much better than Nnauet before palisades opened. Now all of a sudden you all like macys in nanuet because you hate palisades but they are more updated and better selections, Filenes was still a heck of alot better than macys and i still hate macys for taking away sterns abraham and straus and filenes.
