Hamptons Con Woman Arraigned In Court

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Seventeen aliases later and an accused Hamptons con woman had been caught.

Suffolk County Prosecutor Jodi Franzese said Nydia Vega has been scamming people for more than 30 years.

"She's been a professional con woman. She's been doing the same kind of scenario. She's been passing bad checks pretending that she is a millionaire and the checks are never good," Franzese said.

Vega told people in the Hamptons in 2009 that she was a glamorous heiress and scammed eight people by giving them bad checks, authorities said.

With the hundreds of thousands of dollars that authorities said Vega scammed, she was able to buy a Harley Davidson among many things.

"She told a good story and she looked the part," Franzese said.

Because she's been convicted many times, Franzese said she could receive life behind bars if found guilty on the latest charges.
