"The sentence is 1 1/3 to 4 years, do I think that's long enough?" Susan Ciano, the offier's widow, said. "No, absolutely not."

Susan Ciano called Borbon a murderer and said she is now a widow with two children.

"The three of use stand together, we stand together as what is left of our family, for our memories, for our love of Glen," she said.

Borbon pleaded guilty in November to vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DWI and other charges in the death of Suffolk County Officer Glen Ciano. He also admitted he was talking on a cell phone at the time of the crash.

Prosecutors said Borbon's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he collided with Officer Ciano at a Commack intersection. Ciano was killed when his vehicle smashed into a utility pole and exploded.

WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reports

"A man's life is measured by the way he lived … and my baby brother lived large," Dennis Ciano told CBS 2's Jennifer McLogan.

Never in nearly four decades on the bench, said the judge, had he seen such an outpouring of love support and admiration. Suffolk County Police officers -- more than 100 strong -- overwhelmed the courtroom, comforting the grieving widow, the son, the daughter and mother of the respected officer.

Glen Ciano's mother, Johanna, and Susan Ciano appealed to politicians and lawmakers to enact new laws for drunk drivers and unlicensed drivers.

A vehicular manslaughter -- aggravated driving – plea deal was agreed to because the circumstances of the crash may have made it difficult to prove legal responsibility.
