NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – On the Staten Island Expressway from Clove Road to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, drivers dodge, weave, slam on the brakes, and struggle to hold their lane. That’s because the lane lines keep fading.
“You can’t tell where the lane is,” one driver said. Another said, “They really need to improve the condition.” Drivers suspect road salt and plowing are to blame.
The area is under construction and the lane lines are temporary.
The Staten Island Advance reports state DOT had the contract to repaint them earlier this month, but they keep wearing away.
