NJ State Senator Wants Death Penalty for Cop Killer

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – The man who allegedly executed a Lakewood police officer in his patrol car Friday would be put to death under a bill being drafted by the state senator for that area.

WCBS Anchor Wayne Cabot spoke with Robert Singer who complains that the suspect in the killing “is going like a rock star to prison because he killed a police officer. He should be put to death.”

Singer wants to restore the death penalty for three things: the murder of an on-duty law enforcement officer, the murder of a child, and for a terrorist attack that results in fatalities. He says several colleagues have asked to sign on as co-sponsors and he believes they can rally the votes to change the law.

You are calling him savage? How are we any less savage if we kill him? Let him rot in prison and have to face himself in the mirror!

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I find two things wrong with this article.
    1. Why is it just police officers and children and victims of terrorist attacks that is addressed here? Are others lives less important?
    2. This officer took an oath to serve and protect, would killing his killer really do justice for his memory? How did he stand on the issue of the death penalty? How does his family stand, does it give them closure?
I feel this Senator is using this police officer’s very untimely and unfortunate death to push through his views and using this man’s case to send a point. There are so many findings that the death penalty has never reduced murder! How is allowing this policeman killer to die worse than making him face his crime in life in prison without parole better? Some say he will be made a hero by other prisoners, but I am sure that is not always the case, and that the guards will never treat this prisoner as a hero! I say let him rot in prison, it costs less money for us as taxpayers too!

Ever hear of ex post facto laws? This is just another pandering legislator.

Outstanding that finally a senator has the guts to do their job and look out for the public. We should be able to vote and enact it before this excuse for a human court case ends…push that button and juice his up.

    Put that savage to sleep.

  6. Scott Koen says:

    I would vote for that
