Mets Hire Teufel To Manage Triple-A Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Tim Teufel is working his way up the New York Mets organization after being hired to manage the Buffalo Bisons, their Triple-A affiliate.

Teufel has seven years experience managing in the minors, and had a 66-76 record in his first season at Double-A Binghamton last year. He takes over for Ken Oberkfell, who was promoted this offseason to be part of Terry Collins staff in New York.

Teufel was a member of the 1986 World Series-champion Mets. He has a 403-480 record in the minors, and broke into coaching in 2003 by managing Brooklyn of the New York-Penn League.

The Bisons also announced Friday that Ricky Bones will return as their pitching coach. Mike Easler has been hired as hitting coach.
