Hank Steinbrenner: Yankees ‘Have To (Bleeping) Win’

NEW YORK (WFAN) — So much has already been said about the Yankees this off-season. Apparently, not enough. Enter Hank Steinbrenner.

Steinbrenner gave his two cents to the New York Post about what the Bombers need to do in 2011.

“We will do what we have to do to win … We have the highest payroll and the reason is we are committed to our fans to win,” Steinbrenner told the Post. “We just have to —ing win.”

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made waves on Tuesday morning during his “Breakfast with a Champion” appearance with Mike Francesa. According to Cashman, Joba Chamberlain will not return to the starting rotation, instead the fiery reliever will remain in the bullpen.

“I’m really happy with our bullpen,” Steinbrenner said. “I think Chamberlain is going to come back and have a big year.”

What does Hank think about embattled starter A.J. Burnett?

“I think A.J. is going to come back and have at least the kind of year like he had two years ago.”

Cashman admitted on Tuesday that the Boston Rex Sox have a better team heading into the season. Steinbrenner won’t commit to a statement quite as bold.

“I say we have one of the top four teams in baseball,” Hank said. “Whether we end up being the best or not, we’ll see.

“It’s going to be typical American League East The Red Sox are going to be tough. We’re going to be tough.”

How  can Hank’s Yanks improve in 2011? Let us know in the comments below…

FIRE BRIAN CASHMAN! He needs to go he is undermining the team right now, he did that last year, he said he wanted to be a GM of a low end team so let him go. If Brian is gone Andy will come back! .

  • bmon

Boston spent 130 million last year. This year it’s 180 million or so. Still shy of the Yankees payroll, although more than they usually spend. They have had and will have money coming off the books, so their recent spending binge doesn’t have the impact you would think it would overall..

There’s the face of a man who doesn’t know what laughs or happiness feels like. Sad. Also, stay classy Hank, f -bombs don’t win any games. What a joke. No wonder why the GM can’t stand him.

well seeing that Cliff Lee was afraid of NY & Grenkie thinks the Brewers are a real contender.LMFAO…its all up in the air now,, Boston spends as much $$$ as the Yanks and they havnt made the play-off in 2 seasons.& Tampa will struggle.so as long as CC stays healty & AJ can comeback I like our shot to win it !
