NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are looking for the driver of a black sedan who they say struck and killed a 58-year-old woman with the vehicle early Friday in East Harlem.

A woman tells 1010 WINS’ Al Jones that the victim kept to herself

Ilia Lopez was struck in front of a methadone clinic on Second Avenue around 4 a.m. Police said the driver took with Lopez on the hood of the car. The victim was discovered around the corner from where she was hit.

“There’s no way in the world he can’t know that he didn’t hit that lady, no way in the world. He needs to get caught,” one woman said.

Lopez was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital and police are looking for a black sedan with substantial hood and windshield damage.

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers is offering a $1000 reward in the case.
