NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The New York congressman who resigned after an embarrassing photo ended up on the Internet was reportedly told by the Speaker of the House to stop partying.
The sudden resignation of Buffalo Congressman Christopher Lee on Wednesday night, and has now become the butt of jokes in Washington.
It took only moments — and an Internet scandal—For Lee to go from being a well respected Republican lawmaker to the butt of jokes on Capital Hill — jokes like “say what you will about Christopher Lee, that guy who’d give you the shirt off his back.”
That joke was made at a Washington dinner hours after the now-infamous picture went viral.
“It’s just crazy. It’s astounding,” political strategist William O’Reilly said told CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
Political experts sound off on Lee’s sudden resignation
The married 46-year-old upstate native is said to have snapped and sent the picture to a woman on Craigslist.
The website Gawker.com posted an email exchange that featured Lee allegedly calling himself “a very fit, fun, classy guy’ — who promises “not to disappoint.”
When asked if he’s divorced, he allegedly lies and says “yes, one child.”
O’Reilly, who has worked on a number of campaigns in New York, called the former congressman reckless.
“I mean here you have a sitting congressman, who’s posting pictures of himself, half naked, his face … um you’d think he’d want to get caught, it was just a bizarre situation,” O’Reilly said.
In a statement, Lee said “it’s been a tremendous honor to serve the people of western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents.”
Laurie Buonanno, chair of political science at Buffalo State College, suggested Lee’s alleged actions contradicted his public positions.
“Christopher Lee preached family values, and it was even a little unusual for western New York,” Buonanno said.
House Speaker John Boehner refused to say Thursday whether he urged Lee to quit, but he said the once-rising star in the Republican Party did the right thing in vacating his seat.
“Congressman Lee made his own decision that he thought was in his best interest and the interest of his family,” Boehner said.
Tell us what you think of Lee’s resignation in our comments section.
Lee’s resignation from his western New York seat opens up a political vacuum. Upstate Republican Sen. George Maziarz has said he’s interested in running and is viewed as a frontrunner, but only if he leaves Albany for Washington.
“What happens to that seat is there’s a special election. If the Democrats capture that seat the Republicans lose control of the New York Senate,” former Erie County GOP Chairman Bob Davis said.
Boehner also reprimanded Lee for apparently partying too much in Washington and “inappropriately hanging out with female lobbyists.”
As for Republicans losing control of the Senate in Albany, they say no way. They already have a popular candidate.
When CBS 2′s Derricke Dennis showed the congressman’s personal picture on the streets of New York on Wednesday night the reaction was mixed.
“I think that’s pretty awful. I don’t think an elected official should be posting anything on Craigslist,” one person said.
“He should not have resigned. He should have taken responsibility for his actions, and apologized, and tried to do a better job, and just move on, move on,” added Anthony Muhammad of Bridgeport, Conn.
“If it were my husband, I would be livid. I would be very angry,” said Rachel Pearlman of Park Slope.

This guy is a total tool and he should have resigned as Barny Frank should have resigned but there you go it is politics as usual.
February 10, 2011 at 10:40 am
BILL CLINTON didn’t resign and he “had” SEX…oops Didn’t have Sex with all those Girls Women in the White House… ! !
February 10, 2011 at 10:38 am
No sex. According to the libs, oral sex is not sex.
Go figure.
February 10, 2011 at 10:52 am
And the Republican party has just proved it is no different than the other party. This is the reason why both parties should be abolished.
February 10, 2011 at 10:36 am
NO, the Republicn Party will discipline its members and force them to resign. That never happens with Democrats!! Frank, Dodd, Jefferson, Clinton, etc, etc
February 10, 2011 at 10:59 am
The difference is that when Republicans are caught, they resign. When Democrats are caught, if it s sex with a woman, they apologize, if its sex with a young boy, they add it to their resume.
February 10, 2011 at 11:07 am
/cough
Mark Foley
Oh wait, he was a Republican!
February 10, 2011 at 11:46 am
You’re forgetting that Foley DID resign — and all he did was write some racy emails to guys who were 18 and older at the time. There was never any evidence that he actually DID anything with any of them. But his messages were inconsistent with the dignity that we expect our representatives to have, so he did the right thing by resigning his office.
In reality I’m much more concerned about the Democrats who, regardless of their personal morality, are ruining the country through utterly reckless spending. No nation has ever run consecutive trillion dollar deficits at all, much less been left with a viable currency at the end of the party.
February 10, 2011 at 1:53 pm
If your from New York or a Clinton what you say or make no matters not because Dem or Rep they are one and the same just hte name they run under
February 10, 2011 at 6:00 pm
Stupid is as stupid does…. irregardless of party affiliation. Someone this personally reckless displays a deep and serious lack of judgment and is not trustworthy. Would that he had heeded Boeher’s advice, but arrogance creates a fool.
February 10, 2011 at 10:36 am
Good for the GOP. At least they try to maintain some integrity. The Boston Bottom would have been gone when his live in male prostitute story broke, if he he was in the GOP.
February 10, 2011 at 10:32 am
Why resign???
Switch parties and join the Dems. They achieve much higher stature BECAUSE of this behavior. Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, Chris Dodd(waitress sandwich with Teddy), Marion Barry, Mayor of San Fran, etc. etc., etc.
February 10, 2011 at 10:50 am
Well it’s a nice way to start. Get rid of the trash right away. Good job Mr Speaker!
February 10, 2011 at 10:32 am
The double standard is amazing….
Barney Frank, a sitting US senator, was caught having sexual intercourse with an UNDERAGE male paige in his SENATE OFFICE
He is still in office, never charged/convicted of a sexual crime against a minor. Why? is it because is gay or because he is a liberal.
February 10, 2011 at 10:31 am
Barney Frank is a member of the House not the Senate.
February 10, 2011 at 10:46 am
The point is Frank should no longer be in the House. Unless it’s a Bath House.
February 10, 2011 at 11:09 am
What he did was stupid, but it doesn’t warrant leaving office. He should have stayed on, apologize to all and just move forward. It’s not like he actually acted out the whole thing.
February 10, 2011 at 10:30 am
I’m thinking that maybe the pressure was getting to him & he self-destructed as a way to ‘get out’. He’ll no longer be in politics – stressfull & takes hard work. He’ll no longer be married – stressfull & takes hard work. It’s always much easier to be a single bum.
February 10, 2011 at 10:30 am
How is this about Party? The guy’s a tool and cheating on his wife in a way that was sure to get caught. Can’t we unite as one country to laugh at his sorry @$$, concede that he clearly goes to the gym, and get back to legislating?
February 10, 2011 at 10:26 am
A picture of him shirtless warrant’s him resigning? Republicans need to stand up and NOT STILL fall to the freaking POLITICAL GAMES the Communist Democrats play!
So what if it was a little inappropriate, then chistize him and MOVE ON!

JC,
Republicans need to be better than the Democrats morally, ethically and fiscally. And if that means disciplining one of the own, then so be it. People no longer admire, look up to, trust politicians because of stunts like this. People who put themselves over others to govern should have to live up to the highest moral, ethical and fiscal standards.
February 10, 2011 at 10:33 am
This has to be one of the most unbelievably stupid stunts on record. What is wrong with the vetting process of both parties?
February 10, 2011 at 10:14 am
To say that it “was a little unusual for Western New York” is patently ridiculous. Everyone who’s ever spent any time in Upstate New York & Western New York knows it is full of bed hoppers. That’s about all that area has going for it. Everyone in their 40′s & 50′s has been married three or four times.
Family values indeed.
February 10, 2011 at 10:07 am
To those of you who think this makes Republicans look bad, consider: when Republicans misbehave and get caught, they resign. When Democrats misbehave and get caught, they adopt a martyr complex and claim they’re being persecuted, even though they are guilty and EVERYONE knows it. This is yet another example of why I never vote for Democrats, but do vote for Republicans. Bad apples are everywhere, it’s what you do with them that matters.
February 10, 2011 at 10:03 am
Bourgeois,
To correct your selevtive memory lapse:
Republican David Vitter from Louisiana who has admitted affairs with prostitutes has not resigned.
February 10, 2011 at 10:29 am
David Vitter hired a prostitute in the late 1990′s.
Years before her phone records were released, Vitter had already confessed this to his wife, and they put it behind them.
There is a difference between a man who makes a mistake, stops, and makes it right with his family years before the media finds out, and a man that stops only when he is caught in the act (Barney Frank, Gerry Studds, Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, John Edwards, and yes, Christopher Lee).
I’m sorry that the distinction is lost on you.
February 10, 2011 at 12:16 pm
Has John Ensign of retired..dont give me this bull about republicans resign.
February 10, 2011 at 3:37 pm
American Alm
The people you quote were not the on the ‘family values’ bandwagon.
February 10, 2011 at 4:04 pm
He should have just hired a professional lady like other politicians do.
February 10, 2011 at 10:00 am
At least this time its a married (R) chasing a female rather than a quickie in a mens bathroom or a young boy. I’d say they did class it up a bit from the last time they were in control, though not much. Thank you to the new House Leadership for getting the quick resignation rather than defend BS.
February 10, 2011 at 10:00 am
And what muscles are they talking about? Don’t see any muscles in his pic!
February 10, 2011 at 9:47 am
As A resident of Massachusetts I have two comments #1 his behavior was just plain wrong, although not criminal and #2 does it not seem odd that Barney Frank had a brothel being run out of his bedroom by his boyfriend yet no impact on his “political career” as it is? or, Charlie Rangel and all his ethics violations yet he remains in office…as an independent voter the ramifications for republican bad boys/girls seems so much more severe…hmmm why is that?
February 10, 2011 at 9:46 am
Bourgeois,
To correct your selective memory lapse:
Republican David Vitter from Louisiana who has admitted affairs with prostitutes has not resigned.
February 10, 2011 at 10:30 am
We can talk about each parties all day long and it does not change anything. This is one big DUMBA#@. I don’t care what party he is affiliated with, we do not need idiots like this in Government. Good Riddance
February 10, 2011 at 9:40 am
we can’ t blame one bad behavior for another by pointing fingers. yes some are correct on others who have did far worse and are still in office. I do believe that this is only the tip of the iceberg on whats to come next for this congressman
i hope his kids and wife are not dragged into this mess.
Rahway NJ
February 10, 2011 at 9:39 am
Wow! This kind of behavior is usually a career enhancement for Democrats, I wonder why there’s such a double standard? I remember Teddy Kennedy on the floor of his boat with a young lady and another Senator remarking “there’s a whole lot of drillin’ goin’ on down there” when there was a fight against expanded oil drilling in the Senate……didn’t hurt Teddy’s career.
February 10, 2011 at 9:39 am
I hope no one at this point in time has to ask what the Republican hypocrites mean by “family values.” Don’t you just love Republicans: cheat on their wives, rob from the poor and give to the rich–and, of course, in New York, determined to end rent controls and tenant protections so the poor will have to live in the streets.
February 10, 2011 at 9:27 am
Actually, it means that the Republicans are quite serious about family values. He was forced to resign within hours.
Contrast that with, say, Barney Frank, whose boyfriend ran a male prostitution ring out of his office.
Or with Gerry Studds, who actually admitted to sleeping with a 17 year-old page.
Neither of these Democrats resigned. Both are heroes of the Left.
February 10, 2011 at 9:38 am
Or:
Republican David Vitter from Louisiana who has admitted affairs with prostitutes has not resigned.
February 10, 2011 at 10:32 am
Republicans walk the walk.
When Democrats are caught they are covered up and stay in power regardless of the abuses they committed (Rangel!). When Republicans are caught they do the honorable thing (remember honor?) and resign.
By the way rent controls are one reason New York housing market is such a mess. Econ 101 get a clue.
February 10, 2011 at 9:45 am
Dear None of your Business,
John Edwards!
February 10, 2011 at 9:46 am
I think this a perfect example of Republican family values. When they find one of their own is a snake, they hold him accountable for his actioms. When a democrat acts like that, they circle the wagons around him and say it has nothing to do with his ability to serve the people. I applaude the republican leadership for their handling of this situation.
February 10, 2011 at 9:50 am
Yes perfect example!!! Typical Low Life!!
February 10, 2011 at 10:18 am
How narrow minded can you be….This cancer runs ranpent through both parties
February 10, 2011 at 9:59 am
his civil rights were violated
February 10, 2011 at 9:19 am
How?!?
February 10, 2011 at 9:21 am
Actually, it has been headlining on Fox news. But, since you probably watch MSNBC. You like to cut down the fair and balanced Fox without probably ever watching it. I guess Democrats aren’t hypocrites when they have affairs because they don’t really believe in family values (e.g. sex educ in elementary school, abortion, gay marriage, stifle any religion, …). Democrats are probably more involved in money, corruption, and union scandals anyway.
February 10, 2011 at 9:17 am
Craigs List? You sure it was only women he was doing?
February 10, 2011 at 9:12 am
Yes, unlike you, Nathan!
February 10, 2011 at 9:42 am
Liberals have changed completely the concept of decency and behavior. The difference between this instance by a Republican and outrageous behavior by Democrats is obvious.
Clinton’s disrespectful, beyond the pale behavior in the oval office was deemed ‘his own personal business.” It didn’t matter that he lied under oath, enticed a young women to have sex with him in the oval office and essentially is and was a ‘hounddog who doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Nixon resigned before he was iimpeached and saved the country a terrible trial of a sitting President. Clinton refused, even though he WAS impeached. Edwards cheats on his dying wife and on and on.. All were labeled by the left as unconsequential.
Lee resigned….under pressure no doubt from his Republican colleagues. It all boils down to what your stated goals are in life. You might not be perfect, but there is a significant difference between not caring and setting standards for yourself and trying to live up to them. A very big difference.
February 10, 2011 at 9:03 am
Laurie, you’re right. Also, if he would have been a Dem, they would redefined his actions to be a result of some new-found disability and promoted him to leadership in a new committee on that disability. They’d also call all who criticized him or called for his resignation hateful bigots who should keep their noses out of other people’s private business.
February 10, 2011 at 9:13 am
Honestly, we talk about “morals” for our elected officials, how about how our criminal business class in wall street who have bilked the tax payers for millions upon millions of dollars? This is really a non issue, and a distraction from what really goes on in our corporate bought and paid for government.
February 10, 2011 at 1:06 pm
This is one of the main differences in the parties. Reps resign, dems run again. Can you say Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank?
February 10, 2011 at 8:52 am
I love the GOP. This guy is a pervert and a jerk and all they can say is, “Had he been a democrat…”. It’s a word that has been used earlier in these comments, but it does define today’s conservatives…..quintessential hypocrites.
February 10, 2011 at 9:04 am
This republican resigned. I believe Barney Frank is still a member of Congress for far worse.
February 10, 2011 at 9:09 am
What’s your point? The observation that Democrats have a lower standard of conduct is undeniable.
February 10, 2011 at 9:20 am
You’re correct, had he been a democrat he could have been President and sodomized (repeatedly) an intern and then lied about it under oath and still keep his office.
February 10, 2011 at 9:24 am
You know, Murphy, I don’t see any excuse making for this goof ball. And the charges of what would be happening if her were a Dem are fair. And indeed Barney Frank and Teddy are fair examples. As was Clinton. Slick Willie’s popularity WENT UP with Dems after his scandal of personal behavior. As a Conservative I certainly don’t like Lee more now. And though all the details aren’t known, we do know he was admonished by Boehner previously, so it appears the party said he’s not welcome. If the difference isn’t clear to you then good luck fitting into decent society. Hey, here’s an idea. Lee can join the Democratic Party!
February 10, 2011 at 9:27 am
You wouldn’t know a pile of hypocrit if it hit you smack in the face. Dems are the most transparent hypocrits in the world.
February 10, 2011 at 9:43 am
What exactly did he do that was perverted? He showed a gross lack of judgement by giving his real name and being so easy to track down. But seeking sex or a relationship from another consenting adult on craigslist or any other media is hardly perverted. In the halls of perversion this does not qualify on any level. Gross lack of judgment? Yes. Perversion? No.
February 10, 2011 at 9:53 am
Sorry, Murphy5…No one is just saying that. I’m glad the p.o.s was caught and forced to resign. Others are just asserting that the Reps pushed him to resign despite the fact that some Dems are trying to put the whole party in a negative light. I wouldn’t defend this guy for 1 minute, yet the Dems defended Clinton for equally (or arguably, worse) behavior than this and he was re-elected…and then, of course, there was the Barney Frank debacle, and go back a few years, the Ted Kennedy debacle…and a few lesser ones along the way that Dems just excused.
February 10, 2011 at 9:57 am
Another narrow minded comment..
February 10, 2011 at 10:02 am
Barney is a pervert and you liberal love him.
February 10, 2011 at 10:19 am
Quick Congressman – change your party affiliation to (D) and you can stay and receive a committee chairmanship!
February 10, 2011 at 8:48 am
He should have met with Lieberman before he resigned. I am sure Lieberman could have enrolled him in a Dem sponsored “feel good” workshop of some sort and he could have kept his seat but as a Dem.
February 10, 2011 at 9:45 am
While I don’t agree with what he did, he got online and flirted…and sent a picture without a shirt. you should see some of the things that go on in ‘normal’ chatrooms. He did a stupid thing that everyone’s critical of…I don’t see a crime here though… if this were a democrat, we never would have even heard about it.
February 10, 2011 at 8:42 am
He didn’t just flirt. He said in the emails some of the women he dated were not as they advertised (oh the irony). That means he was dating women from Craigslist. He’s a married man and a father. He was lying to these women about his age and telling them he was divorced. You don’t have a problem with a “Family Values” Republican lying about his age and marital status finding women to date on Craigslist?
If this were a Democrat it would have been headline news all over FOX. Bill (Lufa/cheating/having to pay an out-of-court settlement for sexual harassment) O’Reilly would have been all over the story. Somehow Rush (I take other people’s viagra prescriptions and go to the Dominican Republic with other men to have sex with young boys and I’m also an Oxycontin addict) Limbaugh would be blasting him every day. See if Limbaugh even mentions this incident.
Christopher Lee is just another in a long line of Republican hypocrites. What should be news is that he was trying to date women. Most of these hypocritical Republicans get in trouble for men and boys.
February 10, 2011 at 8:56 am
I totally agree. Lord knows Clinton didn’t resign. Where are the Democrats who said this is a personal matter? Oh, I forgot, it doesn’t apply to Democrats because we expect that type of behavior from them.
February 10, 2011 at 8:58 am
That’s right! The silence is deafening…..
February 10, 2011 at 10:08 am
I’m sure the congressman is not stupid. He subconsciously wanted out of his life as an elected official. He found a way to make it happen fast. I believe this was his way of getting out of a life he didn’t want.
February 10, 2011 at 8:42 am
Clinton didn’t resign, and now we revere him. One set of rules for Dems and another for Repubs. Republicans should remind everyone of Clinton, and his lying to all of us.
The press should resign.
February 10, 2011 at 8:38 am
Nice logic. Because the Democrat slime got a pass, the Republican slime should too. I think not. This guy needs to go based on his stupidity alone. Did he think no one would notice?
February 10, 2011 at 8:46 am
Of course there are two sets of rules. On the Left, we have politicians who have no moral platform and generally promote an anything goes lifestyle and agenda. On the Right, we have politicians who actively promote a moral platform and family values. So of course, the same behavior we see here, if done by a Dem, is dismissed because they are not held to any standard – Barney Frank, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, the ‘Page Boy from Florida’. But a Republican represents a higher standard of personal moral behavior and is therefore held to that higher standard.
February 10, 2011 at 10:03 am
What a dufus! It seems like all our politicans, mostly in the democrat party, are just plain immoral and/or immature.
February 10, 2011 at 8:35 am
Make that mostly in the Republican Party. There are entire websites devoted to Republican sex scandals: http://bit.ly/faYPuC
February 10, 2011 at 8:59 am
My assumption is that there were more damaging details about to be revealed, so Mr. Lee decided to resign immediately. What a reckless, hypocritical fool!
February 10, 2011 at 8:31 am
Good point.
February 10, 2011 at 9:26 am
If this had been done by a Democrat it would be considered a resume enhancer!
February 10, 2011 at 8:29 am
Your response is an indication of the vindictive, ugly political polarization that has gripped our nation. What the man did was wrong, no matter his political affiliation .
February 10, 2011 at 8:41 am
Why is it Democrats never resign and their transgressions are always one hundred times worse?
February 10, 2011 at 8:23 am
Republicans are better than that. Republicans maintain a higher standard than Democrats, and that’s why the resignation.
February 10, 2011 at 8:34 am
Once all the clowns on left resign. At least he was honest and fessed up to his mistake.
February 10, 2011 at 8:22 am
This wasn’t his first time trolling for girls on Craigslist and lying about his marital status. He didn’t fess up. He was outed by someone else. If the picture hadn’t made it to the news he would still be in Congress and still trolling Craigslist. Let’s not give him any high moral quality for resigning. Obviously, must worse was about to hit the fan and he resigned so that didn’t happen.
February 10, 2011 at 9:03 am
To bad he didn’t send the picture to Barney Frank: no democrat would have dared critize him then. But seriously, anybody that stupid should resign. I only wish the democrats had enforceable moral standards.
February 10, 2011 at 8:22 am
this is so bad on so many levels. Truly reflective that we live in a morally bankrupt age. Reeks of hypocricy, egotism, lack of sexual restraint, classlessness, sheer stupidity,….the list can go on and on. The real horror is he probably reflects the best of America. We’ve gone to the dogs, Sodom and Gemorrah….
February 10, 2011 at 8:21 am
Guaranteed there is more to come
February 10, 2011 at 8:19 am
At least he didn’t use a cigar
February 10, 2011 at 8:18 am
The bright spot in this is the Republicans threw him out in four hours.
February 10, 2011 at 8:17 am
Arthur,
How many times do you have to be told to stay of the computer unless mom or I is with you? Now please, sweetheart, take your Ritalin and get ready for school. The special little yellow bus will be out in front very soon.
Love, Dad
February 10, 2011 at 8:15 am
how dumb can you be??? I guess he really didnt care about his congressional seat.
February 10, 2011 at 8:11 am
A NE W LEVEL OF STUPID HAS BEEN REACHED.
February 10, 2011 at 8:11 am
Hypocrisy? Yep, but at least he did the right thing and resigned – unlike a laundry list of democrats.
February 10, 2011 at 8:09 am
Anyone in public office guilty of this should resign.
Having said that, if only we could get all of the Democrats in the House and Senate that are affiliated with the “Democratic Socialists of America” (DSA) to resign.
February 10, 2011 at 8:09 am
Those of you looking for a “guilt-by-association” political spin on this example of inappropriate behavior: shame on you.
February 10, 2011 at 8:08 am
Shows you that the guy didn’t have enough to do, which might explain Congress.
February 10, 2011 at 8:02 am
I only wish other members of congress would have enough character to resign when caught in flagrante. At least he was able to do that.
February 10, 2011 at 7:58 am
“Character” may not be the correct word to discribe this fellow but at least he is gone.
If he were a Democrat the left and their press outlets would be calling this a Republican attempt to smear him.
February 10, 2011 at 8:21 am
Sexually “irregularities” have always been commonplace throughout history, but what is disgusting is that God’s Own Party (GOP) runs on a strict policy of Family Values and adultery seeems to be one of them. This is hypocrisy, tantamount to Tod Haggard and other evangelists backing the GOP not only in New York but also in Iowa where The Family Leader is raw with rank hypocrisy, Idaho from US Senator to Helen Chanelworth, and others, and other states where even the American Family Association which is now listed as an organized hate group..
February 10, 2011 at 7:08 am
It is so predictable. Every time someone with an (R) next to their name gets caught cheating or in a bathroom stall with someone the crazed leftist wing nuts start salivating.
And they always mention God and hypocrisy.
But they don’t mention is that scandals run on both sides and they also come from people of faith………
Scandals with (D) next to their names.
1. Elliot Spitzer- Hired prostitutes while criticizing and prosecuting them
2. Bill Clinton- Too many sexual transgressions to list. Remember the bible he used to carry? What happened to it?
3. John Edwards – Lectured on morality on the campaign trail. Also hooked up with a political groupie and fathered a child.
4. Kwame Kilpatrick- Sleezy former Detroit Mayor who had a sexting problem.
5. Jim McGreevey- NJ Gov who forgot to tell his wife he was gay.
6. David Paterson – NY Gov who ended up admitting to cheating on his wife and drug use.
7. Roosevelt Dobbins – Arkansas Congressman who had a “relationship” with a 14 year old.
8. Barney Frank – Congressman had a male prostitution ring being run out of his house. Claimed he didn’t know.
I could go on and on and on.
February 10, 2011 at 8:17 am
This has nothing to do with being a republican or a democrat, why did you feel the need to list names of democrats that have, also, been involved with scandals? No one is blaming his bad choices on his political stance, it was Lee himself, that put himself in this situation and this has no reflection of how other republicans or democrats conduct themselves, to think otherwise is ridiculous. My heart goes out to his wife who must me mortified and to his son.

The difference is that none of these Democrats ran for public office claiming to be pious Christians on a mission from Jesus to reform America’s morals… which is the case with all the Republicans caught in sex scandals.

Unlike the Dems, who look the other way whenever one of theirs does something stupid, the GOP does a pretty good job of policing itself. What would be hypocritical would be the GOP acting like none of this actually happened. Instead, he was shown the door. Sounds to me like there is little tolerance for stupidity of this kind in the GOP. Dems can basically do whatever they want and know they are safe because their party has no ethical platform.

Is it lonely up there on your perch, arthuride?
You think you have all the answers, are arrogant in your delivery of them, but are actually doing the evil one’s work.
Bravo, for a life well wasted!

Who, exactly, list the AFA as an organized hate group? I am curious about that.

The GOP is far from perfect….this guy isn’t fit for office…Do you really want to get into a laundry list of perverts to see which party has more? John Edwards, Ted Kennedy,….and as far as hate groups….the NAACP, the ACLU….the Democratic party. I know no human who doesn’t wear the title of hypocrite.to some extent. The problem is that it is so easy to see it in the person next to you while it is so painful to look in the mirror.

Hypocrisy of course, kind of like “we’re going to have the most open and transparent administration ever”
