Murphy To Unveil Effects Of GOP Cuts On Conn.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy says he will unveil how Republicans’ proposed cuts to the national budget would affect Connecticut communities.

The 5th District representative from Cheshire has scheduled a news conference for Monday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford with Democratic Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.

Murphy says his report covers the effects on Connecticut if congressional Republicans make deep cuts to home heating oil aid, affordable housing, education, public safety and other important areas. Leaders of programs slated for cuts are also expected at the news conference.

Murphy says the GOP’s proposed cuts could “decimate” state taxpayers’ return on their federal taxes and make Connecticut lose out on millions of dollars in funding.
