NEW YORK (CBS 2/AP) – Officials arrested two people and discovered 35 roosters in a bird fighting ring on Long Island.

Suffolk County Police said they removed the roosters from at home on Half Mile Road in Central Islip along with equipment used to prepare them for fighting, a fighting ring, scales and spectator seating.

The investigation centered on the two homeowners: Pablo Lopez and Rosa Medero. Lopez and Medero were arrested and charged with two felony counts each of Prohibition of Animal Fighting.

All the spectators were issued appearance tickets and released.

Police said a lengthy investigation led to the arrests.

The problem here is not racism, the problem here is not that we all migrated to this country at some point — the problem is this: When our ancestors came here, they embraced the laws, and obeyed the laws. That’s what made this country the great place it once was. Now, immigrants complain that they “miss the things they did in their homeland” and ignore the laws of this nation. The attitude of the immigrant has changed. Say what you wish, it’s not racism, it’s poor behavior and respect by most (not all) of the new arrivals to this great nation. Look at Ozone Park on 9/11, when they danced in the streets. Yes, danced. Things have changed, and Americans (those that embrace and respect our culture) will fight it to the end.
