NJ Councilwoman Accused Of Assaulting Relative In Weight Fight

CLIFTON, NJ (1010 WINS) -- A Clifton city councilwoman has been arrested after a relative landed in the hospital with serious injuries following a domestic dispute.

Police officers were sent to the Dwasline Road home of Mary Sadrakula around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night after they heard yelling in the background of a 911 call before the phone was hung up.

Officer Robert Rowan told 1010 WINS that when the police arrived on the scene they were met by a woman in the driveway who told them she had been assaulted.

The alleged victim told officers that Sadrakula hit and kicked her after having an argument over her weight. "The victim said that they had had an argument about her being too thin," Rowan said.

The woman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with a broken nose and fractured tailbone.

Sadrakula, 55, was charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault. Sadrakula bailed herself out Monday morning. She will be arraigned on Tuesday.
