B&C Morning Show Blog & Audio: Bay It Ain't So

Bobby Dwyer

The baseball season is right around the corner, literally.  The Yankees' begins tomorrow afternoon in the Bronx when they welcome the Tigers to town.  The Mets will get their 2011 campaign underway Friday in Miami against the Marlins and it seems like Jason Bay will begin this season as last season ended, with him on the DL.  Bay was scratched from his Grapefruit League start Tuesday, for what is being called a strained intercostal muscle in his left ribcage, an injury that puzzles Craigie, who knows a thing or two about rib injuries having suffered one once while sneezing.  Last year Bay played in only 95 games due to a concussion and hit a grand total of six home runs, so safe to say some Mets fans are growing short on patience when it comes to the left fielder.  One such Mets fan co-hosts a Morning Radio Show here on the FAN, of course I'm talking about Craigie, who was all up in arms this morning with the prospect of another non-productive year from Bay, who is slated to make over $8 million this season.  There was some good news for the Mets though, Carlos Beltran played in his first game of spring training yesterday and it appears he will be ready to take his place in right field when the games begin to count.  So B&C had their talking point and they ran with it…

Prior to Jerry getting us all updated, Craig made a rather keen observation about Amar'e Stoudemire lookin' like he is wearing pajamas when he dons his Knicks uniform (photographic proof above).  Then Jerry gave us an update that began with the speculation surrounding Jason Bay's health.  We also heard from Phillies (holla!!!) Manager Charlie Manuel and some of the injuries they are dealing with as the season gets ready to start.  The Knicks welcome in the Nets tonight and the Iona Gaels look to capture the CIT title on their home court this evening against Santa Clara.  Then Jerry reported a story involving Jets back-up QB Erik Ainge and his rampant drug use…

With the NCAA Tournament having been dwindled down to just four teams, Clark Kellogg found a few minutes to talk with B&C about all of the action on the hardwood.  Kellogg is the lead game analyst for CBS (pictured above with his partner Jim 'uh-hello friends' Nantz) and he said that he would not be surprised if anyone of the four remaining teams managed to capture the Championship…

Dominique-jealous
(Al 'Hughes' Dukes Photography)

When the guys learned that our boy Lupus/Rocco/Nick made the arrangements for today's Gal to compete in the wildly popular segment we like to call, 'Do You Know More Sports Than…' they decided that they wanted to help the young man out.  Part of the plan included the lovely Dominique acting as if she has a crash on Lupus, to maybe help him out.  Al played along and captured the above photo of Dominique (for his vast collection) looking rather jealous.  Then Craig wondered aloud if he has any future in movies and the guys ran down the list of prominent duos in both movies and TV, inserting themselves in said roles…

Michael Strahan is a retired professional football player, having played his entire 15 year career with the New York Giants, capturing a Super Bowl in 2007, his final year.  Since retiring Strahan has remained very busy and this morning he took a break from rubbing himself down with Vaseline, just long enough to join B&C in-studio for a little chat.  The guys asked him about the NFL lockout and where he stands on the dispute.  They also got into his desire to replace Regis Philbin when he retires at the end of the year and his former teammate Tiki Barber attempting to make a comeback…

Do You Know More Sports Than…A Hot Gal that Lupus/Rocco/ Nick Knows???  Her name was Valerie (pictured above on the right) and according to her, she and Lupus go way back, take from that what you wish.  She was up against a guy named Bob Dwyer (no relation to me) and this one had an ending everyone could be happy with (thanks to Craig).  When the dust settled I think Lupus' 'master-plan' may have worked, as the guys agreed to pay for a dinner date, but the rest is up to him…

2007 Winter TCA Tour - Day 10
(Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)

A major announcement this morning as Craig announced he is leaving SPIKE and his 8-minute 'Weekend Pre-Game Show'.  Boomer wondered how SPIKE would fill the void and if Craig has anything else on the horizon, which opened an old wound.  A while back Craig was in talks with Tony Petitti (pictured above) of the MLB Network about a show but never heard back from him, so Al called Mr. Petitti and he came on to try and clear the air with Craigie, who has been known to carry a grudge.  After they finished talking with Tony, Craig talked about 'Nair-ing' his body and Al thinks he might have an idea why he likes to do so…

The last name Bay is a rather easy name to rhyme, so with that in mind, when the guys were talking about the Mets left fielder's latest injury, they couldn't help but sound like Dr. Seuss.  Jerry, who has two young children at home and is very familiar with the good Dr.'s work, selected the guys poetic exchange as his highly anticipated Moment of the Day…
