Long Island Man Dies After Arrest

WYANDANCH, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a Long Island man who had been arrested for disorderly conduct died suddenly as he was being taken to a hospital following a scuffle with police.

The Suffolk County Police Department says 45-year-old Willie Jackson was taken into custody early Saturday morning after he refused to leave the Peace Makers Motorcycle Club in Wyandanch.

The police had received a 9-1-1 call saying Jackson was drunk and wouldn’t go home.

The department says Jackson was being taken by ambulance to a medical center in West Islip when he suffered cardiac arrest. Officials think he may have had a heart attack, but the cause of death is under investigation.

many things can bring on a sudden cardiac arrest. it’s happened to high school kids at athletic events for example. were drugs & alcohol involved here? factors other than the implied excessive use of force by cops.the incident started at a motorcycle club (albeit, the name was peace makers motorcycle club)

It so amazing this is the seventh case I heard about in this situation..At the hands of police if it is a routine arrest then why are so many people dying? It has to be more then a routine arrest. It has to be some physical force being used. You just don’t go into cardic arrest by being arrested. Hope there’s an investigation being done. I’m so scared of nypd finest never know if you will make it out of any situation when you get into trouble and the boys/girls in blue come running.
