Christie Makes 5-Year-Old YouTube Star Jesse Koczon Honorary N.J. Gov
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- If you work hard you can do or be anything. A 5-year-old New Jersey boy learned that it also can't hurt to cry.
Jesse Koczon, of Old Bridge, became a YouTube star after a clip recorded in 2009 showed him crying and complaining that he can't be the governor of the Garden State.
"Everyone tells me I'm too small to be the governor of New Jersey," Jesse sobs in the video.
Governor Chris Christie granted the tot his wish Wednesday by signing a proclamation making Koczon the state's honorary governor for the day. His brother, Brandon, was named lieutenant governor, reports CBS 2's Scott Rapoport.
It was perhaps Gov. Christie's least controversial move since taking office. His advice for Gov. Jesse was to "never go on vacation during a snow storm."
With his parents looking on, the future, one-day governor laid out his official agenda. When asked what he would do first in office, Jesse replied, "Maybe tell the lieutenant governor what to do."
Last week, Christie took to Twitter to try to reassure the boy.
"Don't worry Jesse, people gave plenty of reasons why I couldn't be Governor, though being too small wasn't one of them," Christie tweeted.
Jesse may be sobbing in the video, but the family might be laughing all the way to the bank: the clip won $10,000 on "America's Funniest Videos" in December.
Jesse's political future may not be too bright with some voters: in the video he answers "yes" when asked if he'd raise property taxes.
