Troy Tulowitzki catapulted the Rockies in front of the Mets with a 3-run, 5th inning home run last night. Predictably there’s been a lot of second guessing going on.

With two outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Terry Collins elected to pitch to the slugger.  Entering the at-bat, Tulowitzki was 4-6 in the series, so Collins had seen first hand what kind of damage he is  capable of and yet still, with 1st base open, he rolled the dice and got burned.

Craig said it’s easy to second guess Collins’ managerial choice, but he wanted to know what the guys who called the game said prior to the at-bat, so we heard from both the SNY team of Gary Cohen & Keith Hernandez, as well as the WFAN tandem of Howie Rose & Wayne Hagin…

    Now Mets fans know why Collins has never won wherever he’s gone. How can you pitch to the Rockies best player with 1st base open? I guess Collins forgot to practice what he preaches, the ‘we’re going to play smart baseball” nonsense
