Both the Rangers and the Knicks had playoff games yesterday – the Blueshirts came through with a win over the Capitals, 2-1, while the Knicks came up short against the Celtics, falling 87-85.

Boomer of course wanted to talk about his Rangers, who, with the win, now trail the Caps two games to one. But he deferred to his radio partner, who demanded the Knickerbockers be today’s top story.

It was a mixed bag as far as the Knicks are concerned. They managed to hold the Celts to under 90 points in their own building, but the game was marred by a lackluster performance from Carmelo Anthony and a questionable offensive foul call in the final minute.  Melo’s 3-point attempt in the finals seconds came up short and now the Knicks will look to rebound in Game 2, Tuesday night in Beantown…
