VIDEO: Police Search For Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of 18-Year-Old Andre Pitts

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man wanted in connection with a fatal Brooklyn shooting.

Andre Pitts, 18, was shot multiple times on Sunday around 7:30 p.m. at 230 Lot Ave.  He was getting off an elevator on the fourth floor when the gunman opened fire.  Pitts was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

Former neighbors, who set up memorials for Pitts, said they were in grief and could not believe someone would want to kill him.

“He was a good kid.  He didn’t do nothing — he played basketball, he was in school or whatever.  He loved computers, he loved everybody.  He loved life,” Stephanie Fields said.

“He’s just a great person and I’ll miss him — a lot,” Joyce Daniels said.

Police described the shooting suspect as a male in his 20s and 5-foot-8. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a green hood, which had green, white and red stripes on the sleeves. He was also wearing a black doo-rag and red sneakers.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

Black life in certain sections of Inner City America means absolutely nothing! With cowardice and wanton senselessness, this animal(I apologize to the animal Kingdom for this comparison) coldly and mercilessly kills an ostensibly innocent human being without a thought! And I happen to be living with animal(s) like him out in these streets!? Americans are right to arm themselves because this [ilk] is just getting started! I grew up in an era where the KKK reigned fear and terror on the Black community! And now, sadly, it’s some of our own youths who are preying on the old, the young and the innocent because of a sickness only this [kind] understands! These are the beginnings of sorrows!

    If you read this one:
you will see that a man who shot at robbers with a cop’s gun was named Eugene Pitts. It’d be an interesting twist to the story if shooting of Andre Pitts was as a revenge and Eugene Pitts and Andre Pitts are related. The other article says that “two other suspects remain at large”

    Just reading the news….

I just love the way he strolled out of the building like he’s just going for a walk. I’ll bet he knew there were cameras and just didn’t care. Had he stood there and posed they couldn’t have gotten a better picture of him. People wail about Big Brother and cry privacy issues but if the victim was someone they knew and/or loved, those “rights” would mean absolutely nothing. Those cameras may be intrusive, but if it means getting animals like this off the streets, I’m all for it

  • wasilla

How many others has he done?

  • HaDYoMsiS

this guy is a coward and from what the video shows he doesnt even know how to shoot and i bet hes is going to cry like a big baby when he gets caught and realize how many years he has to serve in jail because of his stupidity but i’d rather let the streets take care of him am pretty sure someone is gona light his a$$ up the same way he did to that kid but i doudt it, he’s on video so he will get caught..

    • Micha

I agree. In cases like this, I think it’s best to let the streets handle him. No tax payer money wasted and another low life off the streets …it’s a win win

  • Peter

what a shame please lock him up and throw the key away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IgnoranteElephante

I love how the media goes out of their way not to state the obvious.

  • Joe

It’s so unfortunate that this animal probably has more rights than the victim he brutally murdered.

  • Bell Toller

    is this video legal?

    • Truth

Why wouldn’t it be legal? Not only do you have the guy on camera but detectives can get fingerprints where he is touching the wall! He should have tried out for spiderman.

      • Frank D

There’s no such this as a “Privacy Act”. Anything that can be seen in public can be videoed. There is no expectation of privacy in public areas.

What are we going to do – pay this POS royalities for his entertainment value?

      • Bell Toller

        it violated the privacy act

  • Rod in

Cool reality show. Can we see more of it?

  • Black shame

These savages can’t differentiate between real life and Hip hop videos.

  • Let it Be

This sociopath low life looser no doubt is so going to get caught and go to jail. He could save the taxpayers a lot of money and himself a lifetime of abuse and pain if he would just kill himself now.

  • Moe

Vicious??? That was a 100% coward move. Probably never fought a fair fight with his fists in his pathetic life. And obviously the pea brain that sent this idiot are even more limp muscled and brainless than him. Death penalty for this worthless empty trash bin.

  • knay1

Haven lived in that area as a kid back in the 80ies, I’m not at all surprised by the viciousness. Knowing the ethnic make-up of that area as well and colors of the clothes and sneakers worn, I would suspect West-Indian decent.

  • Ms. Chocolate

Wow, that seemed so unreal. How could he so callously walk away as if he just delivered a package, and not just murdered someone in cold blood? Please find him and lock him away…
