NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Time Out New York Kids has some great suggestions for your family this weekend. TONY’s Mary Squillace joins CBS 2’s Emily Smith with the details.
1. Tribeca Film Festival Drive-In
Where: World Financial Center Plaza
When: Saturday, April 23 – 6 p.m.
Tickets: Free
Description: Skip indoor theaters and grab seats for this outdoor screening of The Muppets Take Manhattan. Before settling down with Kermit and Miss Piggy, families can stop by face-painting stations, play Muppet-themed trivia, join in sing-alongs and make their own puppets. All ages.
2. David Grover with Grover’s Gang
Where: The Jewish Museum
When: Sunday, April 24 – 2 p.m.
Description: If Kermit the Frog had jammed with Peter, Paul and Mary, the result might sound a lot like this folk-rock singer (no, he’s not related to the blue Muppet) and his band. Today they sing original songs about freedom and crunchy matzo. Ages 3 to 9.
3. Eggstravaganza at the Queens Zoo
Where: Queens Zoo
When: Saturday, Sunday, April 23-24 – 11 a.m.
Description: In addition to the usual activities, such as egg hunts, themed arts and crafts, and a photogenic Easter Bunny, the animal sanctuary’s two-day celebration features meet-and-greets with its giant Flemish rabbit (Herman weighs in at almost 20 pounds!). All ages.
