NYPD Continues Search For Sex Assault Suspect In Queens

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Police in Queens were hunting for a sexual predator wanted in a pair of violent attacks, Pablo Guzmán reports.

Police said the suspect strikes at night, knocking his female victims to the ground.

His first attack was about one month ago just before 10 p.m., and the latest was before 2 a.m. Friday. In both encounters the women screamed as he tried to remove their clothing, attracting the attention of neighbors who then exited their homes, or of pedestrians who ran to their aid.

Residents in Springfield Gardens were more cautious after hearing the news, and had the following advice for other women in the neighborhood.

"I'm just afraid, like you got to be careful, be safe, just make sure that you're doing the right thing, walk in public areas so you will be noticed," Julia Parker she said.

"You still have to live, just be more cautious of your surroundings, look before you proceed, and if someone do come about that you don't recognize, you keep walking," said resident Brenn Wright.
