Bellone Announces Run for Suffolk County Executive
NORTH BABYLON, N.Y. (1010WINS/AP) -- Babylon town supervisor Steve Bellone threw his hat into the ring for Suffolk County executive.

"We face difficult challenges in this county, there's no question about it," said Bellone. "Particularly as it comes to our finances."
Bellone is the choice of the democrats and he paints himself as a fiscal conservative. He says during his tens years as Babylon town supervisor, he has slashed the payroll and cut the town's debt.
Bellone began his campaign earlier this year and started a listening tour of the county.

Republicans have yet to pick their nominee to replace Suffolk County executive Steve Levy, who is not seeking a third term.
In March, Levy voluntarily turned over around $4 million in campaign funds to the district attorney following a 16-month investigation.
