“I’m really honored and I’m really proud that I was able to do something that nobody else was able to do,” Trump said.

Trump made his remarks during a visit to New Hampshire Wednesday, the site of the nation’s first presidential primary. The visit itself fueled speculation that Trump may run for the White House in 2012.

“I hope [the birth certificate] is true,” Trump said, adding that it will have to be examined by experts.

Trump has recently been featured in a series of television appearances in which he has hammered away at the question of whether or not Barack Obama’s birth certificate is legitimate.

“He should’ve [released] it a long time ago,” Trump said. “Why he didn’t do it when the Clinton’s asked for it, why he didn’t do it when everybody else was asking for it, I don’t know.”

“I am really honored frankly to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue,” Trump said. “Now we can talk about oil, we can about gasoline prices, we can talk about China ripping off this country,” he added.

Speaking in New Hampshire, Trump said he will not make an announcement about 2012 intentions until after his television show’s season ends in May.

That didn’t keep him from speculating about how he’d fare against the President in the contest.

“I think I beat Obama,” Trump said. He cited recent polls that put him at the top of the Republican pack of potential contenders.

People who spoke with 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria on Wednesday said releasing the document was probably a good idea.

“I think it was about the only way he could respond to a ridiculous non-issue that has consumed far too much time already,” one man said.

Another New Yorker said he hoped the issue would finally be put to rest.

“I hope so because people can focus more on the economy and jobs,” he said.

In a brief but blistering press conference, Mr. Obama took aim at his political critics who have been trying to derail his presidency and his reelection by claiming he wasn’t born in America.

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness,” he said. “We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.’

The long form birth certificate says the president was born on August 4, 1961 at a maternity hospital in Honolulu. He did not comment on why the document had not been released earlier.

A USA Today/Gallup poll taken last week showed large numbers of voters continued to doubt Mr. Obama was a natural-born citizen eligible to be president. Only 38 percent said he was definitely born in the United States, while 18 percent said he probably was, 15 percent say he probably was born in another country, and nine percent said he definitely was born elsewhere.

“Some right wingers will say this is fake this is not real and contonue bashing the president every way they can,” said Hank Scheinkopf, political consultant.

What do you think of the birth certificate issue? Is Trump seriously thinking about running for president? How would he do if he ran? Sound off in our comments section.

Of course this reject takes credit of this. He also takes credit for resurrection of Christ.

the whole issue of the president’s “otherness” is just code for racism.black people are not surprised by this.as for the rising negative tenor of the neo cons political rhetoric ,we are not surprised by this.people of my generation have lived through the assassinations.political and real.what is surprising is the cavalier attitude of the press, when we know there have been attempts on the presidents life.dont you understand? if some harm was to come to mr.obama, one hair on his head, reasonable, moderate, tax paying blacks of my generation would rise up and that would be the end of this country.as for mr. trump,we here in new rochelle, new york know all about him.just for the privelege of having a building with his name on it in our town,he gets a tax abatement, that’s right, mr moneybags, someone most capable of paying a fair share, pays nothing. thats because mr trump has no allegiance to any flag except money,he is a coward, and i hope he runs for office so i can join the growing movement against him

  3. badman says:

Maybe Trump is actually a democrat who wants to scuttle the GOP’s chances in 2012 by getting himself on the ticket. For that matter, Sarah Palin probably is, too – she sunk them in 2008.

  4. Tara says:

What an idiot. Instead of Trump being embarrased for calling out the president for something that no other president has ever had to do (racists) and produce proof that he was born here, he thinks he did this great thing. He is such an egomaniac with a typical boys’ club mentality. I can only hope that most people see right thru this jerk.

  5. Rodin says:

Gotta love the white eye “shadow”.

Don’t tell him tanning beds are harmful and maybe he’ll burn himself to a crisp.

  6. Djohn says:

Run for President Donal, run. Please run. Pretty pretty please run. Nothing would energize the Democrats more than to see you and your orange sag of a face run in 2012. Pleassssssssssssssssse !!!!!

    RACIST PIG!!!!!

    1. susan says:

Not only is he a racist pig; he is an antisocial racist pig. I saw The Donald at a Niel Young concert at the United Palace in NYC a few years ago. He was about 5 rows behind me with his sons and may be one of their friends. He had a massive security guard with him who stood at the end of his row during the intermission. People wandered past him in the aisle, some of whom recognized him; a few of ’em waved or said hello. Donald just sat in his seat with his overcoat on acted as if he did not see or hear folks who were standing just a few feet away (and these were white people.) His behavior was so bad that people began to make fun of him in front of a full house. What a whacko.

  8. Tom says:

He is a racist and a clown. He keeps declare bankruptcy to keep his money and this guy is not trustworthy. I will never vote for him and I hope this country is not ready for him too. God save America and God save his soul.

What an idiot, Donald Trump is, how could Barack Obama become president in the first place if he wasn’t an american. Donald Trump i can’t wait for your skeltons to come out of the closet so you can be seen for what you really are. A big toupee wearing idiot with no backbone.. It’s a joke you’re running for president, Barack Obama for President in 2012……….Get over it Donald

  11. Charlie Sheen says:

Mr Chump: You are a buffoon, a clown, a living cartoon. NO ONE takes you serious. You want to be thanked? THANKS for making this a CIRCUS and clouding the real issues that need to be addressed. THANKS for making it clear to the American people just what a FOOL you really are. Even the “blacks” as you so disparagingly call them can see right through you. Stick to what you do best: combing that rodent on your head.

Trump gambled and lost. He will cease ti be a factor in the days ahead. Count on it. The GOP nom will be Romney or Pawlenty unless Daniels gets in. The young smart ones (Christie, Rubio, etc) are sitting this one out knowing they cant beat Obama, and that their path in 16 looks pretty clear. These are facts, not opinions.

  17. Chinarules says:

    Dear Mr. Trump:
Corporate America has outsourced our jobs; Corporate America has moved factories to Mexico, China & Brazil; and Corporate America exists “only” for their top executives to live large. Taxing Chinese goods to the tune of 25% will add a 25% tax to the already burdened American consumer. Besides, it will put Wal-Mart in Chapter 11. That might be a good thing. Mr. Trump, the factories are not going to be rebuilt and the outsourced jobs are in India to stay. Do you have any other great ideas?

  18. pete says:

We do not have time for this sillyness, and Obama hit the nail right on the head. When I look around me, I see Republicans, Democrats, Lefties and Righties of all shades, but I do not see a single American. I am an immigrant myself, but I believe that I am a much better American then most of our representatives who are just agents for some foreign companies or interest groups, and are selling us people out to them while waving the American Flag. Obama is the first US President since Reagan who is an honest American, and I could not care less where he was born. Trump and his consorts are no Americans, they just had the luck to be born in this country by accident, as they fell off a donkey on its way to never-never land.

  19. None Of Your Business says:

All right, Donald, it’s now time for you to prove you were not born on Pluto or some other planet far far out in deepest deepest space. Your words and actions all say otherwise. So prove you were born in the United States, Donald, not on a far away planet.

Oh, and by the way, Donald: your hairdo sucks.

  20. Lily says:

Barack Obama was vetted before his presidency. So Trump has wasted everyone’s time. Mr. Trump took the president away from important issues to answear a rubbish claim, he resolved three years ago. Thank me Trump, for what wasting our time? There are real issues jobs, gas prices and many many more, we don’t have time gor trump’s rubbish. Go away Trump! America does not need you. This only proves the Trump doesn’t know any of the real issues or he would be talking about them.

  21. edward says:

So what was accomplished ? The proof is finally shown that Mr. Trump is just a windbag with no real intention of seeking office. His past dirty deals and suspicious multiple bankrupcies, etc. would never survive the acid test for running for any office, let alone the US presidency.

  22. Bill says:

Let’s see Mr. Trump’s tax returns. Did he pay any taxes? Did he write-off his wig?

  23. AS says:

Does Trump even have a platform for his prsidential run?

  24. M. Perrin says:

  28. Marilyn Geraghty says:

Dear Mr. Trump…Just want you to know that my husband and I would vote for you in a heartbeat. It is your intellect, confidence, idealisms, realisms, beliefs, and proof of efficency and effectiveness that holds our faith in you.
So many are just outright tired of the same old politicians. We need someone with your business expertise and stamina to lay the foundation to take our country back from the Medicaid and Medicare hustlers who apply and reapply for FREE (out of our paychecks free) services, illegal immigrants, as well as numerous other fake, phonies, and frauds.
I am proud to be an American, and I believe that with you as president, all Americans can remain proud living safe and frutiful lives.
YOU get things done; and with whom you choose as your political advisers…we WILL continue to have the best military operations in the world; our economy will strengthen beyond anyones imagination, and corruption of the Medicaid and Medicare system will cease.
We trust you, Mr. Trump; please seek nomination. I KNOW that you will be our next President. We believe!
    Loyally yours,
    M.C.G.

P.S. Pls know that I bear witness to many disabled and trustful individuals who honestly do indeed earn Medicaid and Medicare SSD. I also know that it is only you who has enough courage to put the best team/s together to sort out the truly disadvantaged from the ones who take advantage.

    1. Flynn says:

      Marylin,

Your support for Mr. Trump is passionate and dedicated, and I respect you for that. However, I must ask you a simple question: You cite Trump’s business expertise as qualities suitable for the next president of our country.

However, “The Donald” is absolutely no stranger to failed business ventures and shady practices. Several of his projects have gone belly-up. He’s seen his share of bankruptcy. The late 80’s to mid 90’s saw Trump experiencing a number of Financial crises. And he rented out land to Momar Quadafi (spelling may be wrong) in our country. I mean good heavens, why not offer a time share to Bin Laden?

I agree with you that a majority of the politicians of today are a joke — in ‘the game’ solely for themselves. Change in Washington — on both sides of the political spectrum — is desperately needed. But please reconsider your support of Donald Trump. There is a solution for this country, but I can assure you, that man is NOT it.

      Regards
      Flynn

  29. Bill says:

According to Faux News, President Obama submitted the “short” form of his birth certificate years ago. But the haters (especially the Donald) have been beating the issue for their own purposes. Glad it is finally over. (Or is there going to be a new conspiracy theory over the long form.)

  31. LMAO says:

Ha Ha Ha That’s his big accomplishment? Ha Ha Ha

  32. Anita says:

DEFINITION OF THE ISSUE AT HAND:
    1) Location of long-form birth certificate as mitigated by the President’s unwillingness to present it when asked.
    2) What said ‘unwillingness’ and/or avoidance to resolve these questions may indicate.

THANK YOU MR. TRUMP for seeing this issue through to its END!

Critics are naive to think Mr. Trump was the only one asking the questions. When LARGE NUMBERS OF AMERICANS have responded to polls for YEARS suggesting they too were uncomfortable with the President’s tap dance of superiority! Mr. Trump was not the ONLY inquisitor, he was just the most influencial (as evidenced by the President’s surrendor of the long desired certificate).

    LESSON LEARNED:
    1) Per the certificate released this morning, Obama is not only an American citizen, but he is also an arrogant horse’s behind who deems himself above inquiry by the very people he allegedly pledged to serve upon entering the political arena years ago.

    2) Trump may not be liked, but is evidently an underestimated force to be reckoned with!!

    1. Sandy says:

Sorry, but he provided the long form to those people who needed to see it in order for him to become president. What he didn’t feel he needed to do was show it to the public because it is personal. I think he should have that right. Trump is the arrogant ass in this instance for believing he has anything at all to offer us as a president. The only thing that qualifies him for politics is his ability to lie and bend the truth to his needs.

      1. Fallingleaves2 says:

And lets not forget his biggggggg mouth.

    2. DJohn says:

President Obama released his birth certificate because some Americans were stupid / racist enough to believe he was born in Kenya.

Let’s be honest: if he were white this would not have been an issue. Many Americans can not accept a black man as president. END OF STORY.

    1. Stephen M. St. John says:

      Why now?? Still questionable?? Indeed!!

Contradictory evidence against Barack Obama’s “revelation” earlier today still needs to be considered very carefully.

In this regard, the arguments of Philadelphia attorney Philip J. Berg have still not been heard in a court of law or even a national forum. And so the best spokesperson on this issue has been excluded for no good reason and to the detriment of our nation.

For example, on 11 December 2008 I faxed to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and Secretary of State designate Hilary Clinton and advised both of them that the Embassy of Indonesia had just advised me that, upon official request of the Government of the United States, information about Barack Obama’s Indonesian citizenship would be forthcoming.

Nothing happened. Four days later, the Electoral College proceeded without this important information originally developed by Philip Berg.

  44. BC says:

Remember, people…Trump is part of the 1% you all love to hate…the rich. He cares nothing more than to have his name in the press 24/7. He is a megalomaniac to the extreme, and will do nothing for you as president of this country. Trump’s tactic of taking credit for this is straight out of the Reagan playbook, i.e. – taking credit for ending the Iranian hostage crisis.

And for those who are stuck on Obama’s place of birth, even if he provides bonafide proof of his birthplace, you will never be satisfied because you are not interested in him being your president…you are only interested in having him out of office. You didn’t seem too interested in seeing Bush’s birth certificate when HE was destroying this country for eight years.

  47. Flynn says:

Trump taking credit for Obama releasing the long form is like a burglar taking credit for a homeowner adding security system after he robbed him.

    1. Josh says:

You are an bignorant donkey. Flynn makes an excellent point whereas your comments are merely race-filled hate. Shame on you.

      1. Bridget says:

@josh, who are you calling ignorant. You can’t structure a sentence. What is your post below suppose to mean? I hope Trump does not run for president, he is not what this country needs right now.

what is a “bignorant” donkey???? you must have went to school in jersey. learn to put together a sentance the right way! shame on you josh

      3. Rodin says:

        Joe,

        “bignorant” – big_ignorant

The real problem with his sentence is “AN bignorant” which should have been ‘A’ bignorant.

Speaking of which, correctly written, “must have went” should be “must have GONE.” But then, who’s counting?

“People who live in glass houses” … should “learn to put together a sentance the right way!”

  48. HairPolice says:

Now can we get some authentication that Trump’s hair is actually of US origin?

  49. Garrett B says:

Thanks Mr. Trump for having the courage to take on this issue.

    1. Josh says:

There never was an issue, unless you are so ignorant as to not have a read a damn thing about Hawaii’s birth certificate process and the fact that public officials from Hawaii have all sworn that the certificate was authentic from the get go. To still harp on this suggests that our Federal Gov’t was asleep at the wheel while some yutz took over… or maybe that’s something we learned from the previous administration.

    2. DCOnEdge says:

Garrett: Trump showed “courage” like the terrorists showed “courage” on 9-11. He is a political terrorist and financial terrorist who has been bleeding the government for decades with failed projects and bankruptcys.
