Rangers Trade Junior Center Ethan Werek To Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Phoenix Coyotes acquired junior center Ethan Werek from the New York Rangers on Sunday in exchange for Swedish center Oscar Lindberg.

The 19-year-old Werek, from Markham, Ontario, spent this past season with Kingston in the Ontario Hockey League. He had 24 goals and 28 assists in 47 regular-season games and three assists in three playoff games.

Werek, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, was selected 47th overall by the Rangers in the 2009 draft.

Lindberg, also 19, had five goals and nine assists in 41 regular-season games for Skelleftea HC in the Swedish Elite League, and added three goals and four assists in 18 playoff games. Lindberg, 6 foot and 197 pounds, was selected 57th overall by the Coyotes in the 2010 draft.
