NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A local congressman is fuming over a plan from house Republicans to cut funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
Long Island’s Peter King said he’ll do anything to stop Republicans from cutting the budget from $2.2 billion to $1 billion for DHS.

“This is a wrong decision in Congress. It’s totally wrong. I’ve made it clear to the speaker. I’ve made it clear to the majority leader,” King said. “This is not a party issue. I will stand with anyone—Republican or Democrat—to do all we can to reverse these cuts.”
The GOP Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee added that he’ll even cross lines to stop the cuts.
“I will stand with Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Cuomo and any member of the New York delegation—Republican or Democrat—to carry out this fight,” King said.
Bloomberg said the reduction would cost the city $100 million.
King said many in Congress are living in a false world, thinking because we have not been successfully attacked, we have nothing to worry about.
