Son Of 9/11 Victim Allegedly Points Gun At Police Officer On L.I.

GREAT NECK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The son of a firefighter who died on 9/11 and another man face charges of menacing Long Island police with a gun.

Nassau police said Andrew Lelpi and Anthony Guerrero will be arraigned Monday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer.

Police found Lelpi outside a Great Neck glass business where they say he pointed a handgun at them Saturday. Police also found a .357 Magnum handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun at the scene.

Police went there after a Great Neck resident told them the two had threatened him over a money dispute.

Lelpi’s father, Jonathan, was a FDNY firefighter.

His grandfather, Lee Lelpi, tells Newsday 9/11 has altered many young people’s lives in terrible ways.

It’s not clear if the suspects have lawyers.

Someone who once heard about a 9/11 victim did something today probably – special investigative report right after Dancing with the Paid Dolts. meanwhile, the nuke plant in Japan continues spewing out radiation weeks and weeks later.

  5. Dan Te says:

The charges should be dismissed because he is the son of a 9/11 firefighter victim.

    1. Lucius Junius Brutus says:

Why? Perhaps we should also make all veterans immune from preosecution for violations of the law if they served more than one “hitch” in succession?
How about making the children of Presidents and politicans into a special class, immune from taxes? Why not just give all children of police and firefighters an automatic pass and free tuition and automatic acceptance to the college of their choice.
Or we could just become another part of Russia or China where these things are already the norm.
I would LOVE to hear your justification for such actions. . . I am waiting.. . .

  6. Paula McNabb says:

Grant you 9/11 affected the family of the killed but that should in no way excuse their behavior. You all would just be giving your consent for them to do bad and get away with it!

In other news, a neighbor of a 9/11 victim left the seat up. Again.
