B&C Morning Show: Derek Jeter's Pain In The Calf

Derek Jeter collected the 2,994th hit of his career last night in the bottom of the 1st inning and all seemed well in Yankee Land.  Then, when the captain was leaving the batter's box in the 5th, he felt a tweak in his calf and immediately removed himself from the game.

The Yankees went on to lose to the Indians 1-0 but the story this morning revolved around the health of Jeter -- whether or not a trip to the DL is in his immediate future and what his absence will mean to the Bombers.  Boomer & Craig broke it down and we heard all about the Blonde Bomber's dream that involved a fully-clothed Derek.

Boomer's dream was focused on Jeter's pursuit of 3,000 -- which spawned a conversation about what the ball for hit number 3,000 might be worth.

Craig also wondered aloud if the Mets - who lost to the Pirates 3-1 and fell to 32-34 - will ever reach the .500 mark.  Jose Reyes went 0-3, but did drive in the Mets' only run and is still batting .342 on the season.  Boomer & Craig threw around the idea of starting a "Keep Reyes Crusade" but worry about stepping on others' toes.

So one day after the world celebrated the defeat of the Heat in the NBA Finals, the focus was back on the baseball diamond to start off this Tuesday edition of the "Morning Extravaganza"...
