Mets' Ike Davis Could Be Done For the Season

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Mets GM Sandy Alderson said that a follow-up exam on Davis' sore left ankle showed very little progress and that the first baseman won't be back "any time soon."

If Davis undergoes the microfracture procedure, he won't return at all this season. The 24-year-old is going to try to perform some baseball-related activities three weeks from now, then an official decision will be made.

Davis has been out since mid-May with an injury that was initially expected to sideline him for just a couple weeks.

Davis was off to a great start before suffering the injury on May 10, hitting .302 with seven homers and a .925 OPS in 36 games. His primary replacement at first base, Daniel Murphy, has hit .292 with two homers and a .736 OPS in 37 games since May 10.
