Mt. Vernon Playground Site Of Fatal Shooting

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police in suburban New York are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man.

Police told the Journal News the man was shot once in the chest just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday inside a playground near South Seventh Avenue and West Fourth Street in Mount Vernon.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

The shooting was reported by residents in the area and by one of the city’s Spot Shotter devices, a sensor which detects the location of shots fired and sends electronic notifications to police.

There were no other injuries reported. No suspects have been identified.

    With tens of thousands of Illegal guns on the streets of New York, I guess the guns for cash program got a few off the street. I just don’t understand why law enforcement , who knows where all of these Illegal guns are coming from ,that they don’t stop the flow. Maybe the NRA would help ?
