NEW YORK (WFAN) – Earlier in the week, the mindset was try and take a game or two among the first two games in Detroit.

Why? Because looming on Thursday afternoon was Justin Verlander, one of the hottest pitchers in baseball.

But the Mets have since scored 52 runs over a four-game stretch, and according to Steve Somers, “If I’m Justin Verlander, I’m thinking right now, ‘How the heck am I gonna beat the New York Metropolitans?'”

What else did he say? What about the Yankees? You’ll just have to listen…
