CNN Cancels Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s TV Show ‘In The Arena’

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – The Eliot Spitzer experiment is over at CNN.

The network reshuffled its prime-time schedule on Wednesday, canceling the former New York governor’s 8 p.m. show, “In the Arena.”

Spitzer lasted less than a year at the network. He began on CNN’s prime-time lineup last October paired with conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, who exited in February. The show never made a ratings dent in a tough cable news time slot dominated by Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly.

CNN is moving Anderson Cooper’s news program, which now airs at 10 p.m., into the 8 p.m. time slot. Former CNBC personality Erin Burnett will host a show that is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern time.

Well it’s ABOUT TIME THEY SPIT OUT AND FIRE SPITZER! Yeah! He left a very bad taste in everyone’s mouth. I was disgusted with this undeserving, unfaithful, untalented man getting in after a sex scandal through the “OLD BOY NETWORK!” It’s just the news media attempting to cash in on sensationalism. Well it didn’t work. Would you hire me if I was fired for my job as a school teacher because I had a sexual relationship with a student? Hell no! This untalented ass never deserved any consideration for a job as a news anchor… And hey guys, stop playing old boys network in the newsroom, us women viewers are TIRED OF IT!

  2. Kathy M says:

I liked Elliott Spitzer’s show. I thought it was very well done and educational. He is certainly very bright and can carry a show. It’s a shame that I didn’t get good ratings.

I would like to see him as a correspondent somewhere.

    1. Rickardo says:

It’s a crying shame that CN&N let Eliott Spitszer go.I thought by far, that he was the best political analyst at CN&N.He was’nt afraid to ask the hard, tough questions from politicians, either Republican or Democrat. It’s amazing that Wolfr Blitzer can ask these politicians softball easy questions & still keep his job.No wonder, why CN&N ratings are going down steadily.Even when they simply cannot idientify a great political commentator like Mr.Elitott Spitzer.Hope NBC hires him & gives him a spott on their own network.

  3. MS, California says:

I watched the show every night, I am really unhappy. he is so smart, his program was so educational. I wish him the best of luck.

  4. jas says:

This is a shame. He actually had more intelligent discussions and guests than most of the shows that are broadcasted today.

Ratings should not be the only determining factor.

He will be missed; his replacemnet is dull and boring.

  5. Ed says:

I can’t believe his show lasted this long. It had very poor ratings. How can anyone take a hypocrite seriously on any subject?
If he was a republican he never would have been given this chance.

  6. josse davila says:

As we expect some people, especially TV hosts, to have credibility, the perceptive lack of it somehow undermines their supposed competence. It’s just an instinctive human behavior.

  7. Slim Pickens says:

Bad things happen when you mess with Banks.

  8. p8nt says:

Gotta admire people who can’t put another person’s indiscretion aside. Sptizer is actually a smart person, and he’s more informative to watch than the looneys on FOX.

    1. Nick says:

It’s not the “indiscretions” C8NT, sorry, P8NT. It’s the Hypocrisy.

    2. Stephen Luftschein says:

What does not thinking he deserves a show have to do with not letting him put indiscretions aside?
His entitled to his life but to comment on others? No.
More than that, he did not commit “indiscretions” he committed felonies as he was prosecuting others for the same crime he was committing.

  9. psl says:

I really liked his show. He’s very smart and was always prepared.

  10. Jim from Charlotte says:

When I saw Mr Spitzer doing interviews and making comments related to sex scandals it made me sick Past time for him to go.

  11. Maleek says:

They be hirin Casey Anthony, y’all

  12. LMC2664 says:

I watched the show a few times and enjoyed it. Spitzer pointed out many good points about politics in his show. We judged him as a qualified TV show host, not because of his cheating behavior in his private life.

  13. Peter says:

I was surprised it lasted this long. Client #9 !!!!!!!!!!!

  14. teetotaler says:

If he wants ratings he can host a show on a porn channel.

    1. Shlomo Farkas says:

Actually, he and Weiner are going to host a show on power hungry sex starved Jewish politicians let their insatiable impulses get the best of them called “Semite Scandal.” The first guest on a show that was already taped is Dominique Strauss Khan.

      1. Vinnie from Queens says:

And the second guest is Anthony Weiner.

      2. Shlomo's Rabbi Shmul says:

Vinnie, he is actually hosing the show.

    2. Rickardo Gunawardena says:

I hope Teetoler is the ulitimate pefrect human being. As anybody like Eliott Spitzer deserves a secod chance in life ! Hope you’re a Christian & know just like Jesus Christ asked,”He who has’nt sinned, then caste the first stone” Hope you’re mot a hypocryte like many other politicians & people.

    3. Rickardo Gunawardena says:

Hope you’re not a hypocryte Teetoler ! Give that man Eliott Spitzer a damn break. He made a mistake in his life & deserves a second chance in life !
