Man Injured While Diving Off Central NJ Coast

NEPTUNE, N.J. (AP) -- Coast Guard crews have come to the aid of a diver who collapsed aboard a recreational boat off the central New Jersey coast.

The 44-year-old man, whose name was not disclosed, had just completed a dive about 15 nautical miles east of the Shark River when he collapsed around 10:50 a.m. Sunday.

One crew member called the Coast Guard while others began performing CPR on the man and gave him with oxygen.

A 47-foot motor life boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet soon arrived on scene and brought the man to Coast Guard Station Shark River, where emergency crews took him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Further details on the man's condition were not disclosed.
