Calling it a matter of safety, County Executive Rob Astorino is asking the board of legislators to approve a $500,000 bond act to rehabilitate part of Wilmot Road in Eastchester and a $400,000 bond act for improvements to the Blue Mountain Reservation in Cortlandt.

"It is not something we're just throwing money out to throw money out," said Astorino. "It is something that needs to be fixed. Our interest rates to borrow now are very, very low. We have to do this anyway so we might as well do it now. It's already part of the capital budget."

Astorino says it comes down to pay now or pay later and says he feels make more sense to spend the money now as opposed to spending a lot more down the road.
